April 22, 2006 was the first ever Trailblazer Program in CT. Trailblazers is a national program designed by the US Sportsmen's Alliance. The event took place at the June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation - CT Rivers Council in Ashford, CT. Although the weather was cold and damp the event turned out as many as 70 children along with many volunteers. The program is designed to provide children and their parents with an introduction to outdoor sports along with the importance of conservation through the mentoring of expert instructors. The events included archery, fishing, shooting, wall climbing, GPS navigation as well as demonstrations from the local volunteer fire fighters and EMS personnel. On behalf of US Sportsmen's Alliance, Connecticut Rivers Council, Bob Clark (CT Trailblazer Event Coordinator) and all of the many volunteers and sponsors who made this event possible, we would like to thank all of the children who participated in hopes that some of these activities play an important role in your life for years to come.
